Kentucky has found their new strength and conditioning coach, hiring Braden Welsh — Purdue’s Associate Director of Strength and Conditioning. Prior to Purdue, Welsh was the head strength and conditioning coach at powerhouse IMG Academy in Florida. Kentucky recently parted ways with Rob Harris, who served as basketball strength coach since the 2015-16 season. A change was certainly necessary after our guys in these past few years were noticeably lacking in the physical aspects of the game that had once been a hallmark for Kentucky basketball. Welsh is a youthful and energetic coach with great experience under his belt, and should thrive at this position.
The NBA Draft Lottery will take place Tuesday night, and our guys should get a better understanding of where they might be landing in this years Draft. Only two Wildcats have been invited to the official NBA Combine — TyTy Washington Jr & Shaedon Sharpe — which is set to take place this week. Still no official word on whether or not Sharpe is 100% eligible for this year’s draft, however, Kentucky and NBA Organizations are all currently operating as if he is. In the latest CBS mock draft, Sharpe was predicted to go 4th overall to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Lance Ware and Kareem Watkins have traveled to Brazil with an outreach group to help underserved communities and play a little ball as well. In last night’s matchup, UK is reporting that Lance recorded 39 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 steals — Kareem notched 9 points as well. Our guys’ team got a win in overtime 96-93.
Oscar Tshiebwe is also abroad. He has traveled back to his home in the Democratic Republic of the Congo for the first time since last summer. He will be visiting family and friends for a few weeks before coming back for summer practices.
Still no word on Kentucky’s vacant assistant coaching position. Rumors are that Cal has a “splash hire” lined up, however, no leaks from Kentucky’s end on who that might be. With summer practices getting started mid-June, you should expect an announcement on who this new hire is very shortly.

Sorare To Launch an MLB NFT Baseball Fantasy Game
Sorare announced that it has signed a deal with both Major League Baseball (MLB), and it’s Players Association. Their plans are to launch a new baseball fantasy sports game. This builds on their already successful football game, which covers football worldwide. This is the first new sport which Sorare is venturing into since its football start in 2019.

Buy The Broncos is actually a Real Thing
NFL team, the Denver Broncos, is up for sale after its owner Pat Bowlen passed away in 2019. The BuyTheBroncos DAO (decentralized autonomous organization) aims to crowdfund $4.5 billion or more to become one of the bidders, but it hasn’t got a lot of time. The NFL would like to see a new owner in place at the beginning of the season that starts in September. The DAO plans to launch non-fungible tokens (NFT) that won’t be transferrable.

Madonna is stepping into the world of NFTs. The singer, 63, just released an NFT that features an animated version of her giving birth to a tree while nude.
